The Story of Christmas
Reader and Activities!
My kids love reading with me--being a part of telling the story! Including children during read-alouds gives them opportunities to understand how books work, understand context clues, practice sight words, and gain confidence in their reading skills!
During the Christmas season, I love to incorporate the holidays into our learning! It's important for me to keep our family's focus on the true meaning of Christmas...
And so I decided to create a printable The Story of Christmas book that my kiddos could jump in and read right along with me--and learn the about the birth of Jesus! The story is adapted for young children from the gospels of Matthew & Luke! It's the perfect addition to your family's Christmas traditions!
In addition to the story, I created other resources to expand the learning and practice comprehension skills. The entire collection includes:
- The Story of Christmas Book: A book designed with a mix of words and pictures so that children can read along with you.
- Story Order Cards: Perfect way for your child to practice putting the story events in order!
- Memory Cards: Memory is always one of my kids' favorites games--I also play memory with sight words, letters, and math facts!
- Narration Pages: Have your child retell the story in their own words while you write it down!
- Coloring & Create-Your-Own Nativity Pages
The entire 36 page set (printable ebook + activities) is available HERE for immediate download following your purchase! See a sample of the contents below:
About the Author
Hi! I'm Jen--thanks so much for stopping by to learn about my resource! I want to share a little about my background so you know who put this product together.
I knew I wanted to be a teacher when I was in high school--and so I am. I graduated summa cum laude with a BS in Elementary Education. I taught 2nd grade for two years and later spent two years as a virtual school teacher for homeschool families. I still keep my teaching license current through continuing education classes--I just worked too darn hard for that thing! But I certainly don't think you need to be a teacher to homeschool your kids--mostly I think it gave me the confidence to start.
I'm now in my 16th year of homeschooling! My husband and I have six amazing kids ranging in age from 5 to 19. I've taught 4 of them to read and will begin teaching our 5 year old twins how to read in the next few months. Teaching my kids how to read has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life!
I've always had a passion for reading curriculum--whether in college as a student, in the classroom as an educator, or as a parent making critical choices for my own children. I've spent a lot of time researching curriculum over the past 20 plus years, and now my hope is that my knowledge benefits YOU!
